The Israel-Pakistan secret Relationship

By: Mohammed Jehan Khan

Pakistanis are in a mission on Facebook to promote a positive image of their country by sharing hundred of propaganda articles and memes about how their country could wipe Israel off the face of the earth and challenge the US hegemony in the region. The truth universally acknowledged, whatsoever they claim, is that Pakistan is an ally of the United States and a partner in their crimes. This alliance with the United States made them to have indirect diplomatic and military relationship with the Zionist state of Israel. However these relationship I am going to speak about, happens behind a facade. Although it’s an universal truth, very few are aware of it. Pakistan, after all, like Israel, born out of separatism and since its inception as a country, it has brought many catastrophes to the region, including the Bangladesh liberation war that resulted in the massacre of 2 million Bengalis, two Indo-Pakistan wars and the ongoing Kashmiri crisis which was caused by the partition of India.

THE INCEPTION
When Israel was created in 1948, the then prime minister of Israel David Ben Gurion telegramed Ali Jinnah to recognise the nation. Jinnah however declined what he requested. This did not stop there. Five years after in 1953, the United States (Pakistan was an ally of the United States while India was a Soviet ally) arranged a meeting between Mohammed Zafarullah Khan, Pakistan foreign minister and Abba Eban, Israeli Ambassador to the United States. This was the beginning of their relationship. Zafarullah stated that allying with Israel could promote a ‘negative image’ of Pakistan among the worldwide Muslim and he also stated:

“… the Pakistani government does not bear any hatred toward Israel and understands that it is a factor in the Middle East that must be taken into consideration.”

After Black September operation (The war fought between PLO and Jordan), General Zia-Ul-Haq who allied with King Hussein of Jordan, became on of the most favourite Pakistanis in Israel. This is because at that time King Hussein (Whose head appeared in an Israeli stamp as a recognition of Jordan-Israeli relationship) was an ally of Israel and led Jordan to have made peace with the Jewish state. Where as General Zia helped Jordan to reach that milestone. For this Zia was awarded the highest honour of Jordan for service rendered.Zia-Ul-Haq once reported to have stated:

“Pakistan is like Israel, an ideological state, Take out the Judaism from Israel and it will fall like a house of cards. Take Islam out of Pakistan and make it a secular state; it would collapse.”

He further stated

“Pakistan and Israel are historical twins”

OPERATION CYCLONE
Amidst came Operation Cyclone, The United States’ mission to destabilise Soviet strongholds in Afghanistan. The nearest ally they could seek was Pakistan. Since the United States came to the region, Israel too followed them. This made CIA, ISI and MOSSAD to work shoulder to shoulder. After Black September operation, Mossad seized number of Soviet arms from PLO. Zia delivered these arms to the Afghan Mujahideen through ISI, which ultimately resulted in the collapse of Soviet Union. Nobody knew these Mujahideen would become the modern day Talibans who are destroying Afghanistan and its people. US Congressman Charlie Wilson, a US congressman, asked Zia to shake hand with Israel on Zia’s first visit to US after USSR invasion in Afghanistan. The Proposal was made at a grand dinner hosted by a 48 year old Houston woman called Joanne Herring, whom Gen Zia had a personal interest in. Herring was later named as “Honorary Consul of Pakistan”.

ISRAEL-PAKISTAN RELATIONSHIP DURING BENAZIR-MUSHARAF ERA
After the death of Gen Zia in 1988, Israel looked again to Pakistani leaders for a ‘hand to shake’, and there they found Benazir Bhutto. In 1993, during Benazir Bhutto’s state visit to the United States, Director-General of the Pakistan Army, General Pervez Musharraf was invited by Bhutto to join her on this state visit. Bhutto and Musharaf had chaired a secret meeting with Israeli officials in New York in 1993, who had especially flown to Washington. Under her guidance, General Musharraf had intensified the ISI’s liaison with Israel’s MOSSAD. A final meeting took place in 1995, and Musharraf had also joined this meeting with Benazir Bhutto after she ordered General Musharraf to air-dash to New York immediately.

Before returning to Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto sought guaranty of her safety from Israeli Intelligence Agency MOSSAD. Bhutto, who was in 2008, was assassinated in December 2007.

The Hebrew daily newspaper “Ma’ariv” reported Benazir Bhutto had asked Israel’s secret agency, the CIA and Britain’s Scotland Yard, to help protect her in the run-up to Pakistan’s election on January 2008. In 2007, Pakistan’s People’s Party’s (PPP) high profile leadership visited New York and Washington DC, and then to Tel Aviv. On 07 May 2006, Benazir Bhutto had arranged a Birthday party of the high figure of Israel in a New York’s expensive hotel. The hotel was fully booked that night and the bill was directly paid by the Benazir Bhutto. The top political personalities travelled from Washington DC and Tel Aviv to attend that party.

Benazir Bhutto later on met the then Israeli President Shimon Peres several times in her life and showed her interest to move forward in relations to recognise Israel. Bhutto promised to Shimon that she would visit Israel upon returning to power. Dan Gillerman, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, told Ynet, an online Israeli news site affiliated with Israel’s daily Yediot Acharonot:

“Miss Bhutto admired Israel and of her desire to see a normalisation in the relations between Israel and Pakistan, including the establishment of diplomatic ties.”

Musharraf once said in June 2003:

“What is our dispute with Israel? I have been saying: ‘Should we be more catholic than the pope or more Palestinian than the Palestinians themselves? Is this the right attitude or should there be some change in it? There should be national consensus on it.”

Israel wanted Musharraf to stay in power; it was Israel’s national interest making Musharraf strong and in power as Musharaf was so loyal to Israel and the US. According to the Wiki Leaks cables from Tel Aviv’s American embassy, Israel was concerned about Musharraf’s wellbeing and wanted him to remain on the seat with power in 2007.

In 2005, the meeting between Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri and his Israeli counterpart Silvan Shalom took place in response to Israel’s keenness to establish contact with Pakistan.
Musharraf was the first Muslim ruler who delivered a speech in the World Jewish Congress. Musharraf had openly spoken in favour of diplomatic relation with Israel.

ISRAELI-PAKISTAN ARMS DEAL

Despite Pakistanis’ rhetoric that their country could nuke Israel and their military is so strong to destroy Israel single handedly, in contrast Pakistan is a recipient of Israeli arms. . In 2013, Britain’s Department for Business, Innovation and Skills revealed that: “In 2011, Israel allegedly exported military equipment to Pakistan via Britain; this equipment apparently included electronic warfare systems and aircraft parts”.

Pakistan’s relations towards Israel were not exclusively of Military cooperation but in sports as well. Pakistan cricket team’s former trainer and physiotherapist Dan Kiesel was an Israeli who had served the mandatory required 3 years’ service in the Israeli Defence Force (IDF). After working as a Physiotherapist for the Sri Lankan national cricket team, he accepted an offer from Pakistan to be a Physiotherapist for Pakistan national cricket team.

In 1997, Israeli businessman and intelligence officer (Mossad) Yaakov Nimrodi visited Pakistan and met with the foreign minister Gohar Ayub Khan who encouraged him to launch commercial endeavours between the two countries. He expressed an interest in telecommunications, establishing a medical centre, various agricultural issues, and encouraging religious-based tourism. The Pakistani minister showed particular interest in upgrading airplanes and the supply of replacement parts.
According to the US report:

“Pakistani politicians transfer their million dollars, bought Israeli Bonds and invested their wealth in Israeli bonds in the US, by doing so, they strengthened Israeli economy.”

According to the US law, only American Israeli can buy these bonds and Israeli American businessmen helped those Pakistan’s politicians investing in Israeli bonds in the US. There were many more hidden connections and meetings between Pakistani Army generals and Israeli generals, between ISI officials and Mossad official in various countries.

This is the reality of Pakistan, the most hypocritical nation in the world, which would nuke its own people if the United state ordered them to do so. This is exactly why they allowed the Americans to use their airspace for drone attacks which kills thousands of people routinely. Under such circumstances can Muslims around the world trust this nation? You be the judge.
